The final layer is added with a unique discharge printing technique, which strips away color to reveal a contrasting pattern, creating a beautiful depth.

Handmade Discharge Printing: An Art of Subtraction

Unlike industrial mass production, handmade discharge printing is an art form full of craftsmanship and beautiful uncertainty. It’s not about simply adding color to fabric, but rather using a unique “subtraction” method—a special paste that removes the dye from the fabric’s base color to reveal a pattern.

The creation of every piece relies on manual skill and expert judgment. From applying the paste to using heat to make the color fade, each step is impossible for a machine to perfectly replicate. For this reason, every single piece is one-of-a-kind, possessing a natural, soft, and vintage texture that cannot be mass-produced. This is the unique charm of handmade art.
